* automake.in: Rename the 'unused' channel to 'syntax'.
(variable_defined): Issue a warning instead of an error
for variable-is-a-target conditions.
* automake.texi (Invoking Automake): Rename the 'unused'

* tests/warnopts.test: Likewise.
