* OpenWatcom: Enable 16-bit targetsJiri Malak2020-05-011-0/+10
| | | | | | | | Up to now CMake used OpenWatcom 32-bit target tools only. This fix enable to use OpenWatcom 16-bit target tools too. If CMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR(cross-compilation) is 'I86' then OpenWatcom tools for 16-bit targets are used.
* Watcom WMake: Use wmake internal %null command for empty command listJiri Malak2020-04-271-1/+1
| | | | | | wmake internal command %null realy do "nothing". It is designed to use in command lists.
* Revise include order using clang-format-6.0Kitware Robot2019-10-011-2/+2
| | | | | Run the `clang-format.bash` script to update our C and C++ code to a new include order `.clang-format`. Use `clang-format` version 6.0.
* cmake: Teach --build mode to support multiple targetsBartosz Kosiorek2019-03-051-8/+10

* cmGlobalGenerator: Add a class that represent the build commandRobert Maynard2019-01-251-1/+1
| | | | | | This refactors a std::vector<std::string> into a class so that we can extend the features to represent things such as multiple chained commands in the future.
* cmake: Add options for parallel builds to --build modeFlorian Maushart2018-05-251-0/+30
| | | | | | | While we already support `cmake --build . -- -j`, the options after `--` are specific to the native build tool. Add new options `--parallel [<N>]` and `-j [<N>]` to abstract this and map to the proper option for the native build tool.

* Simplify CMake per-source license noticesBrad King2016-09-271-11/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Per-source copyright/license notice headers that spell out copyright holder names and years are hard to maintain and often out-of-date or plain wrong. Precise contributor information is already maintained automatically by the version control tool. Ultimately it is the receiver of a file who is responsible for determining its licensing status, and per-source notices are merely a convenience. Therefore it is simpler and more accurate for each source to have a generic notice of the license name and references to more detailed information on copyright holders and full license terms. Our `Copyright.txt` file now contains a list of Contributors whose names appeared source-level copyright notices. It also references version control history for more precise information. Therefore we no longer need to spell out the list of Contributors in each source file notice. Replace CMake per-source copyright/license notice headers with a short description of the license and links to `Copyright.txt` and online information available from "https://cmake.org/licensing". The online URL also handles cases of modules being copied out of our source into other projects, so we can drop our notices about replacing links with full license text. Run the `Utilities/Scripts/filter-notices.bash` script to perform the majority of the replacements mechanically. Manually fix up shebang lines and trailing newlines in a few files. Manually update the notices in a few files that the script does not handle.

* Revise C++ coding style using clang-formatKitware Robot2016-05-161-6/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Run the `Utilities/Scripts/clang-format.bash` script to update all our C++ code to a new style defined by `.clang-format`. Use `clang-format` version 3.8. * If you reached this commit for a line in `git blame`, re-run the blame operation starting at the parent of this commit to see older history for the content. * See the parent commit for instructions to rebase a change across this style transition commit.
* Remove `//------...` horizontal separator commentsBrad King2016-05-091-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Modern editors provide plenty of ways to visually separate functions. Drop the explicit comments that previously served this purpose. Use the following command to automate the change: $ git ls-files -z -- \ "*.c" "*.cc" "*.cpp" "*.cxx" "*.h" "*.hh" "*.hpp" "*.hxx" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmCommandArgumentLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmCommandArgumentParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmDependsJavaLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmDependsJavaParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmExprLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmExprParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmFortranLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmFortranParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmListFileLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cm_sha2" | egrep -z -v "^Source/(kwsys|CursesDialog/form)/" | egrep -z -v "^Utilities/(KW|cm).*/" | xargs -0 sed -i '/^\(\/\/---*\|\/\*---*\*\/\)$/ {d;}' This avoids modifying third-party sources and generated sources.
* Source: Stabilize include orderBrad King2016-04-291-0/+1
| | | | | Each source file has a logical first include file. Include it in an isolated block so that tools that sort includes do not move them.
* cmState: Host some state from the cmGlobalGenerator.Stephen Kelly2015-05-271-2/+2

* cmGlobalGenerator: Require a cmake instance in ctor.Stephen Kelly2015-05-271-1/+2
| | | | It is required anyway, so this makes it explicit.
* Remove obsolete overrides of CreateLocalGenerator.Stephen Kelly2015-05-181-9/+0
| | | | The cmGlobalMakefileGenerator3 has an identical implementation.
* cmGlobalGenerator: Host the MakeSilentFlag.Stephen Kelly2015-05-181-1/+1

* cmGlobalUnixMakefileGenerator3: Host the DefineWindowsNULL.Stephen Kelly2015-05-161-1/+1
|
* cmGlobalUnixMakefileGenerator3: Host the include directive.Stephen Kelly2015-05-161-1/+1
| | | | There is no sense in copying this to each cmLocalGenerator.
* cmGlobalGenerator: Move some flags from cmLocalGenerator.Stephen Kelly2015-05-141-4/+4
| | | | | These flags are global, and so they belong here instead of being set on each local generator.
* cmLocalGenerator: Require a global generator in the constructor.Stephen Kelly2015-05-141-2/+1
| | | | Port generator factory methods to pass it.
* cmLocalGenerator: Require a parent in the constructor.Stephen Kelly2015-04-281-2/+4
| | | | | | | Pass the parent though cmGlobalGenerator::CreateLocalGenerator. This will make it easy to initialize state scopes independent of cmMakefile.
* Makefile: Generate single-quoted object lists for WatcomJiri Malak2014-03-271-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Drop the CMAKE_NO_QUOTED_OBJECTS internal variable from the Makefile generators. The underlying problem is with the Watcom linker, not with WMake. The Watcom linker wants object files to be single-quoted. Add <LINK-RULE>_USE_WATCOM_QUOTE platform information variables to tell the generators to use Watcom-style single quotes for object files on link lines. On Windows, Watcom uses the GetCommandLine API to get the original command-line string and do custom parsing that expects single quotes. On POSIX systems, Watcom approximates the original command line by joining all argv[] entries separated by a single space. Therefore we need to double-quote the single-quoted arguments so that the shell does not consume them and they are available for the parser to see.
* Watcom: Enable 'WMake Makefiles' generator on LinuxJiri Malak2014-03-171-0/+4

* Makefile: Improve handling of WMake verbose output and errorsJiri Malak2014-03-101-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | * The '-e' option has nothing to do with verbose output. It is now properly handled by .ERASE directive in make file * The '-s' option sets silent output globally, it cannot be switched off. It is now handled only by .SILENT directive in make file directive is simply controlled by a conditonal block. Remove SilentNoColon member variable as it is no longer needed.
* Watcom: Suppress WMake interactive prompt on errorBrad King2013-11-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Add the "-e" option to build.make invocations of wmake as part of the silencing flags. From "wmake /?": -e erase files after error (no prompt) This prevents test timeouts on error.
* Drop the 'Full' field from cmDocumentationEntryBrad King2013-10-161-1/+0
| | | | | We need only 'Brief' for usage documentation. We no longer have builtin 'Full' documentation, which is now in Help/*/*.rst files.
* Make cmGlobalGenerator::GetDocumentation() a static functionPatrick Gansterer2012-11-191-2/+2
| | | | | Making the function static allows us to call it directly, without creating and removing an instance of the generator.
* Remove trailing whitespace from most CMake and C/C++ codeKitware Robot2012-08-131-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Our Git commit hooks disallow modification or addition of lines with trailing whitespace. Wipe out all remnants of trailing whitespace everywhere except third-party code. Run the following shell code: git ls-files -z -- \ bootstrap doxygen.config '*.readme' \ '*.c' '*.cmake' '*.cpp' '*.cxx' \ '*.el' '*.f' '*.f90' '*.h' '*.in' '*.in.l' '*.java' \ '*.mm' '*.pike' '*.py' '*.txt' '*.vim' | egrep -z -v '^(Utilities/cm|Source/(kwsys|CursesDialog/form)/)' | egrep -z -v '^(Modules/CPack\..*\.in)' | xargs -0 sed -i 's/ \+$//'
* Convert CMake to OSI-approved BSD LicenseBrad King2009-09-281-14/+9
| | | | | | | This converts the CMake license to a pure 3-clause OSI-approved BSD License. We drop the previous license clause requiring modified versions to be plainly marked. We also update the CMake copyright to cover the full development time range.
