* Prefer HTTPS to FTP and HTTP in documentationPaul Eggert2017-09-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Most of this change is to boilerplate commentary such as license URLs. This change was prompted by ftp://ftp.gnu.org's going-away party, planned for November. Change these FTP URLs to https://ftp.gnu.org instead. Make similar changes for URLs to other organizations moving away from FTP. Also, change HTTP to HTTPS for URLs to gnu.org and fsf.org when this works, as this will further help defend against man-in-the-middle attacks (for this part I omitted the MS-DOS and MS-Windows sources and the test tarballs to keep the workload down). HTTPS is not fully working to lists.gnu.org so I left those URLs alone for now.
* Remove unused TN_max_pairs fieldRami Ylimäki2017-02-181-4/+0
| | | | | | | * src/termchar.h (tty_display_info): Remove TN_max_pairs field, describing maximum number of terminal background/foreground color pairs. * src/term.c (tty_default_color_capabilities, tty_setup_colors) (init_tty): Remove references to TN_max_pairs.

* Rework C source files to avoid ^(Paul Eggert2016-03-101-2/+2
| | | | | | | | Work around Bug#22884 by rewording comments and strings to avoid ‘(’ at the start of a line unless it starts a function. This change is a short-term hack; in the longer run we plan to fix cc-mode’s performance for C files that have ‘(’ at the start of a line in a comment or string.

* Make src headers idempotent and standalonePaul Eggert2015-10-161-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Redo src/*.h so that each include file is idempotent (that is, can be included multiple times with the latter inclusions having no effect) and standalone (that is, can be included by itself, with no include file other than config.h needed as a prerequisite). This is standard practice in GNU programs nowadays. * lwlib/lwlib-widget.h, src/buffer.h, src/category.h, src/character.h: * src/charset.h, src/coding.h, src/commands.h, src/disptab.h: * src/fontset.h, src/gnutls.h, src/indent.h, src/keymap.h, src/macros.h: * src/regex.h [emacs]: * src/syntax.h, src/systty.h, src/termhooks.h: Include lisp.h, for Lisp_Object. * src/buffer.h, src/category.h, src/cm.h, src/commands.h, src/disptab.h: * src/indent.h, src/intervals.h, src/keyboard.h, src/macros.h: * src/process.h, src/puresize.h, src/region-cache.h, src/syntax.h: * src/syssignal.h, src/sysstdio.h, src/systty.h, src/termchar.h: * src/termopts.h, src/tparam.h, src/unexec.h: Protect against multiple inclusion. * src/buffer.h: Include character.h, for STRING_CHAR. * src/emacsgtkfixed.h (struct frame): * src/fontset.h (struct face): * src/region-cache.h (struct buffer): * src/termhooks.h (struct glyph): * src/xsettings.h (struct x_display_info): Add possibly-forward decl. * src/syntax.h: Include buffer.h, for BVAR. * src/sysselect.h: Include lisp.h, for eassume. * src/termchar.h: Include <stdio.h>, for FILE. * src/widget.h: Include <X11/IntrinsicP.h>, for Widget. * src/xsettings.h: Include <X11/Xlib.h>, for XEvent.

| * Fix corruption with multiple emacsclient -t instances.Paul Eggert2013-09-111-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This bug was introduced by my 2013-08-26 patch, which incorrectly assumed that the terminfo implementation doesn't use termcap buffers. * term.c (init_tty) [TERMINFO]: Remove optimization, as these buffers apparently are used after all. * termchar.h (TERMCAP_BUFFER_SIZE) [TERMINFO]: Define here too. (struct tty_display_info): Define members termcap_term_buffer and termcap_strings_buffer even if TERMINFO. Fixes: debbugs:15222

* Fix unlikely core dump in init_tty, and simplify terminfo case.Paul Eggert2013-08-261-5/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | * term.c (init_tty) [TERMINFO]: Fix check for buffer overrun. The old version incorrectly dumped core if malloc returned a buffer containing only non-NUL bytes. (init_tty): Do not allocate or free termcap buffers; the struct does that for us now. * termchar.h (TERMCAP_BUFFER_SIZE) [!TERMINFO]: New constant. (struct tty_display_info): Define members termcap_term_buffer and termcap_strings_buffer only if !TERMINFO, since terminfo doesn't use them. Allocate them directly in struct rather than indirectly via a pointer, to simplify init_tty.

* Simplify redefinition of 'abort' (Bug#12316).Paul Eggert2012-09-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Do not try to redefine the 'abort' function. Instead, redo the code so that it calls 'emacs_abort' rather than 'abort'. This removes the need for the NO_ABORT configure-time macro and makes it easier to change the abort code to do a backtrace. * configure.ac (NO_ABRT): Remove. * admin/CPP-DEFINES (NO_ABORT): Remove. * nt/inc/ms-w32.h (w32_abort) [HAVE_NTGUI]: Remove. * src/.gdbinit: Just stop at emacs_abort, not at w32_abort or abort. * src/emacs.c (abort) [!DOS_NT && !NO_ABORT]: Remove; sysdep.c's emacs_abort now takes its place. * src/lisp.h (emacs_abort): New decl. All calls from Emacs code to 'abort' changed to use 'emacs_abort'. * src/msdos.c (dos_abort) [defined abort]: Remove; not used. (abort) [!defined abort]: Rename to ... (emacs_abort): ... new name. * src/sysdep.c (emacs_abort) [!HAVE_NTGUI]: New function, taking the place of the old 'abort' in emacs.c. * src/w32.c, src/w32fns.c (abort): Do not #undef. * src/w32.c (emacs_abort): Rename from w32_abort.

Don't handle unused blinking and alt-charset cases. (turn_off_face): Handle italic case; discard unused tty_blinking_p and tty_alt_charset_p cases. (tty_capable_p, init_tty): Support italics. * src/termchar.h (struct tty_display_info): Add field for italics. Small fixes. * lisp/server.el (server-process-filter): Protect `display-splash-screen' call in a condition-case. Explain why. * src/callint.c (Fcall_interactively): Update call to `temporarily_switch_to_single_kboard'. * src/fns.c (Fy_or_n_p): Ditto. * src/frame.c (Fdelete_frame): Remove unused variable `count'. * src/keyboard.c (wrong_kboard_jmpbuf): Remove global variable. * src/keyboard.c (read_char): Add wrong_kboard_jmpbuf parameter to allow for recursive calls. Update longjmp invocations. Remember the original current_kboard, and longjmp to `wrong_kboard_jmpbuf' when a filter, timer or sentinel changes it. Comment out unnecessary calls to `record_single_kboard_state' and `any_kboard_state'. Update recursive calls. * src/keyboard.c (read_key_sequence): Add `wrong_kboard_jmpbuf' local variable. Update setjmp and read_char calls. Abort if interrupted_kboard died in read_char. * src/keyboard.c (any_kboard_state, single_kboard_state) (record_single_kboard_state): Comment out obsolete functions. (push_frame_kboard): Remove function. (pop_kboard): Switch out of single_kboard mode if the kboard has been deleted. (temporarily_switch_to_single_kboard): Change first parameter to a frame pointer. Throw an error when caller wants to change kboards while in single_kboard mode. (restore_kboard_configuration): Abort if pop_kboard changed the kboard in single_kboard mode. (Frecursive_edit): Switch to single_kboard mode only in nested command loops. (cmd_error, command_loop, command_loop_1, timer_check): Comment out unnecessary call to `any_kboard_state' and `record_single_kboard_state'. * src/keyboard.c (delete_kboard): Exit single_kboard mode if we have just deleted that kboard. * src/keyboard.c (interrupt_signal): Use `Fkill_emacs' to exit Emacs, not `fatal_error_signal'. * src/keyboard.h (read_char, single_kboard_state) (record_single_kboard_state): Remove. (temporarily_switch_to_single_kboard): Update. * src/lread.c: Include setjmp.h. Update declaration of `read_char'. (read_filtered_event): Call `read_char' with a local `wrong_kboard_jmpbuf'. * src/minibuf.c (read_minibuf): Update call to `temporarily_switch_to_single_kboard'. * src/termchar.h (tty_display_info): Rename `previous_terminal_frame' member to `previous_frame'. * src/xdisp.c (redisplay_internal): Update references to `previous_terminal_frame'. (display_mode_line, Fformat_mode_line): Replace calls to `push_frame_kboard' with `push_kboard'. git-archimport-id: lorentey@elte.hu--2004/emacs--multi-tty--0--patch-489
