From bc511a64f6da9ab51acc7c8865e80c4a4cb655c2 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Paul Eggert Date: Wed, 13 Sep 2017 15:52:52 -0700 Subject: Prefer HTTPS to FTP and HTTP in documentation Most of this change is to boilerplate commentary such as license URLs. This change was prompted by ftp://ftp.gnu.org's going-away party, planned for November. Change these FTP URLs to https://ftp.gnu.org instead. Make similar changes for URLs to other organizations moving away from FTP. Also, change HTTP to HTTPS for URLs to gnu.org and fsf.org when this works, as this will further help defend against man-in-the-middle attacks (for this part I omitted the MS-DOS and MS-Windows sources and the test tarballs to keep the workload down). HTTPS is not fully working to lists.gnu.org so I left those URLs alone for now. --- nt/README.W32 | 2 +- 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+), 1 deletion(-) (limited to 'nt/README.W32') diff --git a/nt/README.W32 b/nt/README.W32 index 1141e8a1b71..a670687ef21 100644 --- a/nt/README.W32 +++ b/nt/README.W32 @@ -8,7 +8,7 @@ See the end of the file for license conditions. can find the precompiled distribution on the ftp.gnu.org server and its mirrors: - ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/ + https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/ This server contains other distributions, including the full Emacs source distribution, as well as older releases of Emacs for Windows. -- cgit v1.2.1
