Merge branch 'mh/shorten-unambigous-ref'
* mh/shorten-unambigous-ref: shorten_unambiguous_ref(): tighten up pointer arithmetic gen_scanf_fmt(): delete function and use snprintf() instead shorten_unambiguous_ref(): introduce a new local variable
