* Add calls to git_extract_argv0_path() in programs that call git_config_*Steffen Prohaska2009-01-261-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | Programs that use git_config need to find the global configuration. When runtime prefix computation is enabled, this requires that git_extract_argv0_path() is called early in the program's main(). This commit adds the necessary calls. * Provide git_config with a callback-data parameterJohannes Schindelin2008-05-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | git_config() only had a function parameter, but no callback data parameter. This assumes that all callback functions only modify global variables. With this patch, every callback gets a void * parameter, and it is hoped that this will help the libification effort. * Use xmkstemp() instead of mkstemp()Luiz Fernando N. Capitulino2007-08-141-3/+1
| | | | | | | | xmkstemp() performs error checking and prints a standard error message when an error occur. Signed-off-by: Luiz Fernando N. Capitulino <lcapitulino@mandriva.com.br> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
* convert object type handling from a string to a numberNicolas Pitre2007-02-271-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We currently have two parallel notation for dealing with object types in the code: a string and a numerical value. One of them is obviously redundent, and the most used one requires more stack space and a bunch of strcmp() all over the place. This is an initial step for the removal of the version using a char array found in object reading code paths. The patch is unfortunately large but there is no sane way to split it in smaller parts without breaking the system. * short i/o: fix calls to write to use xwrite or write_in_fullAndy Whitcroft2007-01-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | We have a number of badly checked write() calls. Often we are expecting write() to write exactly the size we requested or fail, this fails to handle interrupts or short writes. Switch to using the new write_in_full(). Otherwise we at a minimum need to check for EINTR and EAGAIN, where this is appropriate use xwrite(). Note, the changes to config handling are much larger and handled in the next patch in the sequence. Signed-off-by: Andy Whitcroft <apw@shadowen.org> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>

* Use blob_, commit_, tag_, and tree_type throughout.Peter Eriksen2006-04-041-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | This replaces occurences of "blob", "commit", "tag", and "tree", where they're really used as type specifiers, which we already have defined global constants for. Signed-off-by: Peter Eriksen <s022018@student.dtu.dk> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>

| | | | | | | | | This makes sure that many commands that take refs on the command line to honor core.warnambiguousrefs configuration. Earlier, the commands affected by this patch did not read the configuration file. Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>

* Add "get_sha1()" helper function.Linus Torvalds2005-05-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | This allows the programs to use various simplified versions of the SHA1 names, eg just say "HEAD" for the SHA1 pointed to by the .git/HEAD file etc. For example, this commit has been done with git-commit-tree $(git-write-tree) -p HEAD instead of the traditional "$(cat .git/HEAD)" syntax.
* Add "unpack-file" helper that unpacks a sha1 blob into a tmpfile.Linus Torvalds2005-04-181-0/+34
