* Allow external diffs to be used conditionallyNick Thomas2019-03-271-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Since external diffs are likely to be a bit slower than in-database ones, add a mode that makes diffs external after they've been obsoleted by events. This should strike a balance between performance and disk space. A background cron drives the majority of migrations, since diffs become outdated through user actions.
* Adds Rollback functionality to HashedStorage migrationGabriel Mazetto2019-03-011-0/+1
| | | | | | | We are adding sidekiq workers and service classes to allow to rollback a hashed storage migration. There are some refactoring involved as well as part of the code can be reused by both the migration and the rollback logic.
* Add project http fetch statistics APIJacopo2019-02-271-0/+1
| | | | | | The API get projects/:id/traffic/fetches allows user with write access to the repository to get the number of clones for the last 30 days.
* Move ChatOps to CoreJames Fargher2019-02-201-0/+1
| | | | ChatOps used to be in the Ultimate tier.
* Refactor Storage MigrationGabriel Mazetto2019-01-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Specs were reviewed and improved to better cover the current behavior. There was some standardization done as well to facilitate the implementation of the rollback functionality. StorageMigratorWorker was extracted to HashedStorage namespace were RollbackerWorker will live one as well.
* Add Container Registry APIKamil Trzciński2019-01-251-1/+1
| | | | | | This includes a set of APIs to manipulate container registry. This includes also an ability to delete tags based on requested criteria, like keep-last-n, matching-name, older-than.

* Send a notification email on mirror update errorsAlejandro Rodríguez2018-12-111-0/+1
| | | | | | The email is sent to project maintainers containing the last mirror update error. This will allow maintainers to set alarms and react accordingly.
* Allow public forks to be deduplicatedZeger-Jan van de Weg2018-12-071-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When a project is forked, the new repository used to be a deep copy of everything stored on disk by leveraging `git clone`. This works well, and makes isolation between repository easy. However, the clone is at the start 100% the same as the origin repository. And in the case of the objects in the object directory, this is almost always going to be a lot of duplication. Object Pools are a way to create a third repository that essentially only exists for its 'objects' subdirectory. This third repository's object directory will be set as alternate location for objects. This means that in the case an object is missing in the local repository, git will look in another location. This other location is the object pool repository. When Git performs garbage collection, it's smart enough to check the alternate location. When objects are duplicated, it will allow git to throw one copy away. This copy is on the local repository, where to pool remains as is. These pools have an origin location, which for now will always be a repository that itself is not a fork. When the root of a fork network is forked by a user, the fork still clones the full repository. Async, the pool repository will be created. Either one of these processes can be done earlier than the other. To handle this race condition, the Join ObjectPool operation is idempotent. Given its idempotent, we can schedule it twice, with the same effect. To accommodate the holding of state two migrations have been added. 1. Added a state column to the pool_repositories column. This column is managed by the state machine, allowing for hooks on transitions. 2. pool_repositories now has a source_project_id. This column in convenient to have for multiple reasons: it has a unique index allowing the database to handle race conditions when creating a new record. Also, it's nice to know who the host is. As that's a short link to the fork networks root. Object pools are only available for public project, which use hashed storage and when forking from the root of the fork network. (That is, the project being forked from itself isn't a fork) In this commit message I use both ObjectPool and Pool repositories, which are alike, but different from each other. ObjectPool refers to whatever is on the disk stored and managed by Gitaly. PoolRepository is the record in the database.
* Use FastDestroy for deleting uploadsJan Provaznik2018-12-061-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | It gathers list of file paths to delete before destroying the parent object. Then after the parent_object is destroyed these paths are scheduled for deletion asynchronously. Carrierwave needed associated model for deleting upload file. To avoid this requirement, simple Fog/File layer is used directly for file deletion, this allows us to use just a simple list of paths.

* Delete a container registry asynchronouslyStan Hu2018-09-071-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | When a container registry has many tags, it's easy for the DELETE call to take more than 60 seconds and fail. This can also leave the registry in a bad state with null bytes since some of the images have been deleted with tags still pointing to them. In addition, we have to prevent users from accidentally initiating the delete multiple times or this could leave the registry with orphaned tags. This commit also adds a flash message to notify the user the registry is scheduled for deletion. Closes #49926, #51063

* Add repository languages for projectsZeger-Jan van de Weg2018-08-011-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Our friends at GitHub show the programming languages for a long time, and inspired by that this commit means to create about the same functionality. Language detection is done through Linguist, as before, where the difference is that we cache the result in the database. Also, Gitaly can incrementaly scan a repository. This is done through a shell out, which creates overhead of about 3s each run. For now this won't be improved. Scans are triggered by pushed to the default branch, usually `master`. However, one exception to this rule the charts page. If we're requesting this expensive data anyway, we just cache it in the database. Edge cases where there is no repository, or its empty are caught in the Repository model. This makes use of Redis caching, which is probably already loaded. The added model is called RepositoryLanguage, which will make it harder if/when GitLab supports multiple repositories per project. However, for now I think this shouldn't be a concern. Also, Language could be confused with the i18n languages and felt like the current name was suiteable too. Design of the Project#Show page is done with help from @dimitrieh. This change is not visible to the end user unless detections are done.

| | | | | We request Gitaly in a N+1 manner to build discussion diffs. Once the diffs are from different revisions, it's hard to make a single request to the service in order to build the whole response. With this change we solve this problem and simplify a lot fetching this piece of info.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Prior to this MR there were two GitHub related importers: * Github::Import: the main importer used for GitHub projects * Gitlab::GithubImport: importer that's somewhat confusingly used for importing Gitea projects (apparently they have a compatible API) This MR renames the Gitea importer to Gitlab::LegacyGithubImport and introduces a new GitHub importer in the Gitlab::GithubImport namespace. This new GitHub importer uses Sidekiq for importing multiple resources in parallel, though it also has the ability to import data sequentially should this be necessary. The new code is spread across the following directories: * lib/gitlab/github_import: this directory contains most of the importer code such as the classes used for importing resources. * app/workers/gitlab/github_import: this directory contains the Sidekiq workers, most of which simply use the code from the directory above. * app/workers/concerns/gitlab/github_import: this directory provides a few modules that are included in every GitHub importer worker. == Stages The import work is divided into separate stages, with each stage importing a specific set of data. Stages will schedule the work that needs to be performed, followed by scheduling a job for the "AdvanceStageWorker" worker. This worker will periodically check if all work is completed and schedule the next stage if this is the case. If work is not yet completed this worker will reschedule itself. Using this approach we don't have to block threads by calling `sleep()`, as doing so for large projects could block the thread from doing any work for many hours. == Retrying Work Workers will reschedule themselves whenever necessary. For example, hitting the GitHub API's rate limit will result in jobs rescheduling themselves. These jobs are not processed until the rate limit has been reset. == User Lookups Part of the importing process involves looking up user details in the GitHub API so we can map them to GitLab users. The old importer used an in-memory cache, but this obviously doesn't work when the work is spread across different threads. The new importer uses a Redis cache and makes sure we only perform API/database calls if absolutely necessary. Frequently used keys are refreshed, and lookup misses are also cached; removing the need for performing API/database calls if we know we don't have the data we're looking for. == Performance & Models The new importer in various places uses raw INSERT statements (as generated by `Gitlab::Database.bulk_insert`) instead of using Rails models. This allows us to bypass any validations and callbacks, drastically reducing the number of SQL queries and Gitaly RPC calls necessary to import projects. To ensure the code produces valid data the corresponding tests check if the produced rows are valid according to the model validation rules.

| * Stop using Sidekiq for updating Key#last_used_atremove-use-key-workerYorick Peterse2017-09-201-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This makes things simpler as no scheduling is involved. Further we remove the need for running a SELECT + UPDATE just to get the key and update it, whereas we only need an UPDATE when setting last_used_at directly in a request. The added service class takes care of updating Key#last_used_at without using Sidekiq. Further it makes sure we only try to obtain a Redis lease if we're confident that we actually need to do so, instead of always obtaining it. We also make sure to _only_ update last_used_at instead of also updating updated_at. Fixes https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/36663
