# Events API **(FREE)**

## Filter parameters

### Action Types

Available types for the `action` parameter, and the resources that might be affected:

- `approved`
  - Merge request
- `closed`
  - Epic **(PREMIUM)**
  - Issue

  - Milestone
- `commented` on any `Noteable` record.
  - Alert
  - Commit
  - Design
  - Issue
  - Merge request
  - Snippet
- `created`
  - Design
  - Epic **(PREMIUM)**
  - Issue
  - Merge request
  - Milestone
  - Project
  - Wiki page
- `destroyed`
  - Design
  - Milestone
  - Wiki page
- `expired`
  - Project membership

- `pushed` commits to (or deleted commits from) a repository, individually or in bulk.

These options are in lowercase.

### Target Types

Available target types for the `target_type` parameter are:

- `issue`
- `milestone`
- `merge_request`
- `note`
- `project`
- `snippet`
- `user`

These options are in lowercase.

### Date formatting

Dates for the `before` and `after` parameters should be supplied in the following format:

### Event Time Period Limit

GitLab removes events older than 3 years from the events table for performance reasons.

## List currently authenticated user's events

>**Notes:**
> This endpoint was introduced in GitLab 9.3.
> `read_user` access was introduced in GitLab 11.3.

Get a list of events for the authenticated user. Scope `read_user` or `api` is required.

Parameters:

| `scope` | string | no | Include all events across a user's projects. |
| `sort` | string | no | Sort events in `asc` or `desc` order by `created_at`. Default is `desc`. |

### Get user contribution events

Get the contribution events for the specified user, sorted from newest to oldest. Scope `read_user` or `api` is required.

## List a Project's visible events

NOTE:

Get a list of visible events for a particular project.
