Add StgToCmm module hierarchy. Platform modules that are used in several
other places (NCG, LLVM codegen, Cmm transformations) are put into
GHC.Platform.

The splitter is an evil Perl script that processes assembler code.
Its job can be done better by the linker's --gc-sections flag. GHC
passes this flag to the linker whenever -split-sections is passed on
the command line.
This is based on @DemiMarie's D2768.

This patch adds foldl' to GhcPrelude and changes must occurences
of foldl to foldl'. This leads to better performance especially
for quick builds where GHC does not perform strictness analysis.
It does change strictness behaviour when we use foldl' to turn
a argument list into function applications. But this is only a
drawback if code looks ONLY at the last argument but not at the first.
And as the benchmarks show leads to fewer allocations in practice
at O2.

Summary:
This contains two commits:

Make GHC's code-base compatible w/ `MonadFail`
There were a couple of use-sites which implicitly used pattern-matches
in `do`-notation even though the underlying `Monad` didn't explicitly
support `fail`
This refactoring turns those use-sites into explicit case
discrimations and adds an `MonadFail` instance for `UniqSM`
(`UniqSM` was the worst offender so this has been postponed for a
follow-up refactoring)

Turn on MonadFail desugaring by default
This finally implements the phase scheduled for GHC 8.6 according to
https://prime.haskell.org/wiki/Libraries/Proposals/MonadFail#Transitionalstrategy
This also preserves some tests that assumed MonadFail desugaring to be
active; all ghc boot libs were already made compatible with this
`MonadFail` long ago, so no changes were needed there.

The simplifier can simplify this without any trouble. Moreover, the
unboxed tuples cause bootstrapping issues due #14123.
I also went ahead and inlined a few definitions into the Monad instance.

This switches the compiler/ component to get compiled with
-XNoImplicitPrelude and a `import GhcPrelude` is inserted in all
modules.
This is motivated by the upcoming "Prelude" re-export of
`Semigroup((<>))` which would cause lots of name clashes in every
modulewhich imports also `Outputable`

This copies the subset of Hoopl's functionality needed by GHC to
`cmm/Hoopl` and removes the dependency on the Hoopl package.
The main motivation for this change is the confusing/noisy interface
between GHC and Hoopl:
- Hoopl has `Label` which is GHC's `BlockId` but different than
GHC's `CLabel`
- Hoopl has `Unique` which is different than GHC's `Unique`
- Hoopl has `Unique{Map,Set}` which are different than GHC's
`Uniq{FM,Set}`
- GHC has its own specialized copy of `Dataflow`, so `cmm/Hoopl` is
needed just to filter the exposed functions (filter out some of the
Hoopl's and add the GHC ones)
With this change, we'll be able to simplify this significantly.
It'll also be much easier to do invasive changes (Hoopl is a public
package on Hackage with users that depend on the current behavior)
This should introduce no changes in functionality - it merely
copies the relevant code.

As discussed in D1532, Trac Trac #11337, and Trac Trac #11338, the stack
unwinding information produced by GHC is currently quite approximate.
Essentially we assume that register values do not change at all within a
basic block. While this is somewhat true in normal Haskell code, blocks
containing foreign calls often break this assumption. This results in
unreliable call stacks, especially in the code containing foreign calls.
This is worse than it sounds as unreliable unwinding information can at
times result in segmentation faults.
This patch set attempts to improve this situation by tracking unwinding
information with finer granularity. By dispensing with the assumption of
one unwinding table per block, we allow the compiler to accurately
represent the areas surrounding foreign calls.
Towards this end we generalize the representation of unwind information
in the backend in three ways,
* Multiple CmmUnwind nodes can occur per block
* CmmUnwind nodes can now carry unwind information for multiple
registers (while not strictly necessary; this makes emitting
unwinding information a bit more convenient in the compiler)
* The NCG backend is given an opportunity to modify the unwinding
records since it may need to make adjustments due to, for instance,
native calling convention requirements for foreign calls (see
#11353).
This sets the stage for resolving #11337 and #11338.

This patch adds likeliness annotations to heap and and stack checks and
modifies the llvm codegen to recognize those to help it generate better
code.
So with this patch

The idea behind adding special "rubbish" arguments was in unboxed sum types
depending on the tag some arguments are not used and we don't want to move some
special values (like 0 for literals and some special pointer for boxed slots)
for those arguments (to stack locations or registers). "StgRubbishArg" was an
indicator to the code generator that the value won't be used. During Stg-to-Cmm
we were then not generating any move or store instructions at all.
This caused problems in the register allocator because some variables were only
initialized in some code paths. As an example, suppose we have this STG: (after

This basically unpacks a sum type to an unboxed sum with 3 fields, and then
moves the unboxed sum to a constructor (`Lib.T`).
This is the Cmm for the inner case expression (case expression in the scrutinee
position of the outer case):

Here one of the blocks `ciS` and `ciR` is executed and then the execution
continues to `ciR`, but only `ciS` initializes `_giE`, in the other branch
`_giE` is not initialized, because it's "rubbish" in the STG and so we don't
generate an assignment during code generator. The code generator then panics
during the register allocations:

(`_giD` is also "rubbish" in `ciS`, but it's still initialized because it's a
pointer slot, we have to initialize it otherwise garbage collector follows the
pointer to some random place. So we only remove assignment if the "rubbish" arg
has unboxed type.)
This patch removes `StgRubbishArg` and `CmmArg`. We now always initialize
rubbish slots. If the slot is for boxed types we use the existing `absentError`,
otherwise we initialize the slot with literal 0.

Summary:
This patch implements primitive unboxed sum types, as described in
https://ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/wiki/UnpackedSumTypes.
Main changes are:
- Add new syntax for unboxed sums types, terms and patterns. Hidden
behind `-XUnboxedSums`.
- Add unlifted unboxed sum type constructors and data constructors,
extend type and pattern checkers and desugarer.
- Add new RuntimeRep for unboxed sums.
- Extend unarise pass to translate unboxed sums to unboxed tuples right
before code generation.
- Add `StgRubbishArg` to `StgArg`, and a new type `CmmArg` for better
code generation when sum values are involved.
- Add user manual section for unboxed sums.
Some other changes:
- Generalize `UbxTupleRep` to `MultiRep` and `UbxTupAlt` to
`MultiValAlt` to be able to use those with both sums and tuples.
- Don't use `tyConPrimRep` in `isVoidTy`: `tyConPrimRep` is really
wrong, given an `Any` `TyCon`, there's no way to tell what its kind
is, but `kindPrimRep` and in turn `tyConPrimRep` returns `PtrRep`.
- Fix some bugs on the way: #12375.
Not included in this patch:
- Update Haddock for new the new unboxed sum syntax.
- `TemplateHaskell` support is left as future work.
For reviewers:
- Front-end code is mostly trivial and adapted from unboxed tuple code
for type checking, pattern checking, renaming, desugaring etc.
- Main translation routines are in `RepType` and `UnariseStg`.
Documentation in `UnariseStg` should be enough for understanding
what's going on.

Summary:
In the past the canonical way for constructing an SDoc string literal was the
composition `ptext . sLit`. But for some time now we have function `text` that
does the same. Plus it has some rules that optimize its runtime behaviour.
This patch takes all uses of `ptext . sLit` in the compiler and replaces them
with calls to `text`. The main benefits of this patch are clener (shorter) code
and less dependencies between module, because many modules now do not need to
import `FastString`. I don't expect any performance benefits - we mostly use
SDocs to report errors and it seems there is little to be gained here.

The interfaces to {save,load}ThreadState were quite messy due to the
need to pass in local registers (produced with draws from a unique
supply) since they were used from both FCode and UniqSM.
This, however, is entirely unnecessary as we already have an
abstraction to capture this effect: MonadUnique. Use it.
This is part of an effort to properly represent stack unwinding
information
for foreign calls.

Summary:
This allows the code generator to give hints to later code generation
steps about which branch is most likely to be taken. Right now it
is only taken into account in one place: a special case in
CmmContFlowOpt that swapped branches over to maximise the chance of
fallthrough, which is now disabled when there is a likelihood setting.

Unwind information allows the debugger to discover more information
about a program state, by allowing it to "reconstruct" other states of
the program. In practice, this means that we explain to the debugger
how to unravel stack frames, which comes down mostly to explaining how
to find their Sp and Ip register values.
* We declare yet another new constructor for CmmNode - and this time
there's actually little choice, as unwind information can and will
change mid-block. We don't actually make use of these capabilities,
and back-end support would be tricky (generate new labels?), but it
feels like the right way to do it.
* Even though we only use it for Sp so far, we allow CmmUnwind to specify
unwind information for any register. This is pretty cheap and could
come in useful in future.
* We allow full CmmExpr expressions for specifying unwind values. The
advantage here is that we don't have to make up new syntax, and can e.g.
use the WDS macro directly. On the other hand, the back-end will now
have to simplify the expression until it can sensibly be converted
into DWARF byte code - a process which might fail, yielding NCG panics.
On the other hand, when you're writing Cmm by hand you really ought to
know what you're doing.

This patch solves the scoping problem of CmmTick nodes: If we just put
CmmTicks into blocks we have no idea what exactly they are meant to
cover. Here we introduce tick scopes, which allow us to create
sub-scopes and merged scopes easily.
Notes:
* Given that the code often passes Cmm around "head-less", we have to
make sure that its intended scope does not get lost. To keep the amount
of passing-around to a minimum we define a CmmAGraphScoped type synonym
here that just bundles the scope with a portion of Cmm to be assembled
later.
* We introduce new scopes at somewhat random places, aligning with
getCode calls. This works surprisingly well, but we might have to
add new scopes into the mix later on if we find things too be too
coarse-grained.

This patch adds CmmTick nodes to Cmm code. This is relatively
straight-forward, but also not very useful, as many blocks will simply
end up with no annotations whatosever.
Notes:
* We use this design over, say, putting ticks into the entry node of all
blocks, as it seems to work better alongside existing optimisations.
Now granted, the reason for this is that currently GHC's main Cmm
optimisations seem to mainly reorganize and merge code, so this might
change in the future.
* We have the Cmm parser generate a few source notes as well. This is
relatively easy to do - worst part is that it complicates the CmmParse
implementation a bit.

Summary:
This includes pretty much all the changes needed to make `Applicative`
a superclass of `Monad` finally. There's mostly reshuffling in the
interests of avoid orphans and boot files, but luckily we can resolve
all of them, pretty much. The only catch was that
Alternative/MonadPlus also had to go into Prelude to avoid this.
As a result, we must update the hsc2hs and haddock submodules.

Summary:
Previously, both Cabal and GHC defined the type PackageId, and we expected
them to be roughly equivalent (but represented differently). This refactoring
separates these two notions.
A package ID is a user-visible identifier; it's the thing you write in a
Cabal file, e.g. containers-0.9. The components of this ID are semantically
meaningful, and decompose into a package name and a package vrsion.
A package key is an opaque identifier used by GHC to generate linking symbols.
Presently, it just consists of a package name and a package version, but
pursuant to #9265 we are planning to extend it to record other information.
Within a single executable, it uniquely identifies a package. It is *not* an
InstalledPackageId, as the choice of a package key affects the ABI of a package
(whereas an InstalledPackageId is computed after compilation.) Cabal computes
a package key for the package and passes it to GHC using -package-name (now
*extremely* misnamed).
As an added bonus, we don't have to worry about shadowing anymore.
As a follow on, we should introduce -current-package-key having the same role as
-package-name, and deprecate the old flag. This commit is just renaming.
The haddock submodule needed to be updated.

In some cases, the layout of the LANGUAGE/OPTIONS_GHC lines has been
reorganized, while following the convention, to
- place `{-# LANGUAGE #-}` pragmas at the top of the source file, before
any `{-# OPTIONS_GHC #-}`-lines.
- Moreover, if the list of language extensions fit into a single
`{-# LANGUAGE ... -#}`-line (shorter than 80 characters), keep it on one
line. Otherwise split into `{-# LANGUAGE ... -#}`-lines for each
individual language extension. In both cases, try to keep the
enumeration alphabetically ordered.
(The latter layout is preferable as it's more diff-friendly)
While at it, this also replaces obsolete `{-# OPTIONS ... #-}` pragma
occurences by `{-# OPTIONS_GHC ... #-}` pragmas.

This patch implements loopification optimization. It was described
in "Low-level code optimisations in the Glasgow Haskell Compiler" by
Krzysztof Woś, but we use a different approach here. Krzysztof's
approach was to perform optimization as a Cmm-to-Cmm pass. Our
approach is to generate properly optimized tail calls in the code
generator, which saves us the trouble of processing Cmm. This idea
was proposed by Simon Marlow. Implementation details are explained
in Note [Self-recursive tail calls].
Performance of most nofib benchmarks is not affected. There are
some benchmarks that show 5-7% improvement, with an average improvement
of 2.6%. It would require some further investigation to check if this
is related to benchamrking noise or does this optimization really
help make some class of programs faster.
As a minor cleanup, this patch renames forkProc to forkLneBody.
It also moves some data declarations from StgCmmMonad to
StgCmmClosure, because they are needed there and it seems that
StgCmmClosure is on top of the whole StgCmm* hierarchy.

This cleanup includes:
* removing dead code. This includes forkStatics function,
which was in fact one big noop, and global bindings in
CgInfoDownwards,
* converting functions that used FCode monad only to
access DynFlags into functions that take DynFlags
as a parameter and don't work in a monad,
* addBindC function is now smarter. It extracts Id from
CgIdInfo passed to it in the same way addBindsC does.
Previously this was done at every call site, which was
redundant.

In many places, 'splitUniqSupply' + 'uniqFromSupply' is used to split a
UniqSupply into a Unique and a new UniqSupply. In such places we should
instead use the more efficient and more appropriate
'takeUniqFromSupply' (or equivalent).
Not only is the former method slower, it also generates and throws away
an extra Unique.
