* driver core: remove the driver-model structures from the documentationWanlong Gao2011-05-061-17/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Remove the struct bus_type, class, device, device_driver from the driver-model docs. With another patch add them to device.h, since they are out of date. That will keep things up to date and provide a better way to document this stuff. * Driver core: driver_attribute parameters can often be const*Phil Carmody2009-12-231-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Many struct driver_attribute descriptors are purely read-only structures, and there's no need to change them. Therefore make the promise not to, which will let those descriptors be put in a ro section. * [PATCH] DRIVER MODEL: Get rid of the obsolete tri-level suspend/resume callbacksRussell King2005-10-281-58/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In PM v1, all devices were called at SUSPEND_DISABLE level. Then all devices were called at SUSPEND_SAVE_STATE level, and finally SUSPEND_POWER_DOWN level. However, with PM v2, to maintain compatibility for platform devices, I arranged for the PM v2 suspend/resume callbacks to call the old PM v1 suspend/resume callbacks three times with each level in order so that existing drivers continued to work. Since this is obsolete infrastructure which is no longer necessary, we can remove it. Here's an (untested) patch to do exactly that. * [PATCH] Driver Core: driver model doc updateDavid Brownell2005-06-201-26/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This updates some driver data documentation: - removes references to some fields that haven't been there for a long time now, e.g. pre-kobject or even older; - giving more information about the probe() method; - adding an example of how platform_data is used Signed-off-by: David Brownell <dbrownell@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] pm_message_t: more fixes in common and i386Pavel Machek2005-04-161-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | I thought I'm done with fixing u32 vs. pm_message_t ... unfortunately that turned out not to be the case as Russel King pointed out. Here are fixes for Documentation and common code (mainly system devices). Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
