* MDEV-7660 - MySQL WL#6671 "Improve scalability by not using thr_lock.c locksSergey Vojtovich2016-11-031-26/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | for InnoDB tables" Don't use thr_lock.c locks for InnoDB tables. Below is list of changes that were needed to implement this: - HANDLER OPEN acquireis MDL_SHARED_READ instead of MDL_SHARED - HANDLER READ calls external_lock() even if SE is not going to be locked by THR_LOCK - InnoDB lock wait timeouts are now honored which are much shorter by default than server lock wait timeouts (1 year vs 50 seconds) - with @@autocommit= 1 LOCK TABLES disables autocommit implicitely, though user still sees @@autocommt= 1 - the above starts implicit transaction - transactions started by LOCK TABLES are now rolled back on disconnect (previously everything was committed due to autocommit) - transactions started by LOCK TABLES are now rolled back by ROLLBACK (previously everything was committed due to autocommit) - it is now impossible to change BINLOG_FORMAT under LOCK TABLES (at least to statement) due to running transaction - LOCK TABLES WRITE is additionally handled by MDL - ...in contrast LOCK TABLES READ protection against DML is pure InnoDB - combining transactional and non-transactional tables under LOCK TABLES may cause rolled back changes in transactional table and "committed" changes in non-transactional table - user may disable innodb_table_locks, which will cause LOCK TABLES to be noop basically Removed tests for BUG#45143 and BUG#55930 which cover InnoDB + THR_LOCK. To operate properly these tests require code flow to go through THR_LOCK debug sync points, which is not the case after this patch. These tests are removed by WL#6671 as well. An alternative is to port them to different storage engine.

* Bug #57663 Concurrent statement using stored function and DROP DATABASEJon Olav Hauglid2010-11-161-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | breaks SBR This pre-requisite patch refactors the code for dropping tables, used by DROP TABLE and DROP DATABASE. The patch moves the code for acquiring metadata locks out of mysql_rm_table_part2() and makes it the responsibility of the caller. This in preparation of changing the DROP DATABASE implementation to acquire all metadata locks before any changes are made. mysql_rm_table_part2() is renamed mysql_rm_table_no_locks() to reflect the change.
* A 5.5 version of the fix for Bug #54360 "Deadlock DROP/ALTER/CREATEJon Olav Hauglid2010-07-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | DATABASE with open HANDLER" Remove LOCK_create_db, database name locks, and use metadata locks instead. This exposes CREATE/DROP/ALTER DATABASE statements to the graph-based deadlock detector in MDL, and paves the way for a safe, deadlock-free implementation of RENAME DATABASE. Database DDL statements will now take exclusive metadata locks on the database name, while table/view/routine DDL statements take intention exclusive locks on the database name. This prevents race conditions between database DDL and table/view/routine DDL. (e.g. DROP DATABASE with concurrent CREATE/ALTER/DROP TABLE) By adding database name locks, this patch implements WL#4450 "DDL locking: CREATE/DROP DATABASE must use database locks" and WL#4985 "DDL locking: namespace/hierarchical locks". The patch also changes code to use init_one_table() where appropriate. The new lock_table_names() function requires TABLE_LIST::db_length to be set correctly, and this is taken care of by init_one_table(). This patch also adds a simple template to help work with the mysys HASH data structure. Most of the patch was written by Konstantin Osipov.

* Bug#42438: Crash ha_partition::change_table_ptrMattias Jonsson2010-02-011-0/+57
There was two problems: The first was the symptom, caused by bad error handling in ha_partition. It did not handle print_error etc. when having no partitions (when used by dummy handler). The second was the real problem that when dropping tables it reused the table type (storage engine) from when the lock was asked for, not the table type that it had when gaining the exclusive name lock. So that it tried to delete tables from wrong storage engines. Solutions for the first problem was to accept some handler calls to the partitioning handler even if it was not setup with any partitions, and also if possible fallback to use the base handler's default functions. Solution for the second problem was to remove the optimization to reuse the definition from the cache, instead always check the frm-file when holding the LOCK_open mutex (updated with a fix for a debug print crash and better comments as required by reviewer, and removed optimization to avoid reading the frm-file). mysql-test/r/partition_debug_sync.result: Bug#42438: Crash ha_partition::change_table_ptr New result file using DEBUG_SYNC for deterministic results. mysql-test/t/partition_debug_sync.test: Bug#42438: Crash ha_partition::change_table_ptr New test file using DEBUG_SYNC for deterministic results. sql/ha_partition.cc: Bug#42438: Crash ha_partition::change_table_ptr allow some handler calls, used by error handling, even when no partitions are setup. Fallback to default handling if possible. sql/sql_base.cc: Bug#42438: Crash ha_partition::change_table_ptr Added DEBUG_SYNC point for deterministic test cases. sql/sql_table.cc: Bug#42438: Crash ha_partition::change_table_ptr Always use the table type written in the .frm-file (i.e. the current table type) when deleting a table. Moved the check for log-table to not depend of the cache. Added DEBUG_SYNC points for deterministic test cases.
