| * Fix accumulation of old rows in mysql.gtid_slave_posKristian Nielsen2018-10-071-0/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This would happen especially in optimistic parallel replication, where there is a good chance that a transaction will be rolled back (due to conflicts) after it has executed record_gtid(). If the transaction did any deletions of old rows as part of record_gtid(), those deletions will be undone as well. And the code did not properly ensure that the deletions would be re-tried. This patch makes record_gtid() remember the list of deletions done as part of a transaction. Then in rpl_slave_state::update() when the changes have been committed, we discard the list. However, in case of error and rollback, in cleanup_context() we will instead put the list back into rpl_global_gtid_slave_state so that the deletions will be re-tried later. Probably fixes part of the cause of MDEV-12147 as well. Signed-off-by: Kristian Nielsen <knielsen@knielsen-hq.org>

| | | | | * Bug#24901077: RESET SLAVE ALL DOES NOT ALWAYS RESET SLAVESujatha Sivakumar2017-02-281-2/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Description: ============ If you have a relay log index file that has ended up with some relay log files that do not exists, then RESET SLAVE ALL is not enough to get back to a clean state. Analysis: ========= In the bug scenario slave server is in stopped state and some of the relay logs got deleted but the relay log index file is not updated. During slave server restart replication initialization fails as some of the required relay logs are missing. User executes RESET SLAVE/RESET SLAVE ALL command to start a clean slave. As per the documentation RESET SLAVE command clears the master info and relay log info repositories, deletes all the relay log files, and starts a new relay log file. But in a scenario where the slave server's Relay_log_info object is not initialized slave will not purge the existing relay logs. Hence the index file still remains in a bad state. Users will not be able to start the slave unless these files are cleared. Fix: === RESET SLAVE/RESET SLAVE ALL commands should do the cleanup even in a scenario where Relay_log_info object initialization failed. Backported a flag named 'error_on_rli_init_info' which is required to identify slave's Relay_log_info object initialization failure. This flag exists in MySQL-5.6 onwards as part of BUG#14021292 fix. During RESET SLAVE/RESET SLAVE ALL execution this flag indicates the Relay_log_info initialization failure. In such a case open the relay log index/relay log files and do the required clean up.

Two issues are covered. INSERT into autoincrement field which is not the first part in the composed primary key is unsafe by autoincrement logging design. The case is specific to MyISAM engine because Innodb does not allow such table definition. However no warnings and row-format logging in the MIXED mode was done, and that is fixed. Int-, Rand-, User-var log-events were not filtered along with their parent query that made possible them to screw up execution context of the following query. Fixed with deferring their execution until the parent query. ****** Bug#11754117 Post review fixes.

This gives the IO thread a chance to queue some more events and ultimately the SQL thread will be able to purge the log once it is rotated. By then the SQL thread resets the ignore_log_space_limit to false. However, between the time the SQL thread has set the ignore flag and the time it resets it, the IO thread will be queuing events in the relay log, possibly going way over the limit. This patch makes the IO and SQL thread to synchronize when they reach the space limit and only ask for one event at a time. Thus the SQL thread sets ignore_log_space_limit flag and the IO thread resets it to false everytime it processes one more event. In addition, everytime the SQL thread processes the next event, and the limit has been reached, it checks if the IO thread should rotate. If it should, it instructs the IO thread to rotate, giving the SQL thread a chance to purge the logs (freeing space). Finally, this patch removes the resetting of the ignore_log_space_limit flag from purge_first_log, because this is now reset by the IO thread every time it processes the next event when the limit has been reached. If the SQL thread is in a transaction, it cannot purge so, there is no point in asking the IO thread to rotate. The only thing it can do is to ask for more events until the transaction is over (then it can ask the IO to rotate and purge the log right away). Otherwise, there would be a deadlock (SQL would not be able to purge and IO thread would not be able to queue events so that the SQL would finish the transaction).

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | TRYING TO RECONNECT TO Problem : The basic problem is the way the thread sleeps in mysql-5.5 and also in mysql-5.1 when we execute a stop slave on windows platform. On windows platform if the stop slave is executed after the master dies, we have this long wait before the stop slave return a value. This is because there is a sleep of the thread. The sleep is uninterruptable in the two above version, which was fixed by Davi patch for the BUG#11765860 for mysql-trunk. Backporting his patch for mysql-5.5 fixes the problem. Solution : A new pair of mutex and condition variable is introduced to synchronize thread sleep and finalization. A new mutex is required because the slave threads are terminated while holding the slave thread locks (run_lock), which can not be relinquished during termination as this would affect the lock order.

The proper slave enhancement will be implemented in WL 5597. However, in this bug we are making it clear to the user what the problem is, by printing a message to the error log if the execution time, for a given statement in RBR, takes more than LONG_FIND_ROW_THRESHOLD (set to 60 seconds). This shall help the DBA to diagnose what's happening when facing a slave server that is quiet for no apparent reason... The note is only printed to the error log if log_warnings is set to be greater than 1.

However, when setting it up for the second time, neither the sql thread is reset nor the server is restarted. This means that previous stale relay log IO_CACHE metadata - from first run - is left around. As a consequence, when the test is run for the second time, the IO_CACHE for the relay log has position in file different than zero, triggering the assertion. We fix this by deploying a call to my_b_seek before calling check_binlog_magic in next_event. This prevents the server from asserting, in the cases that the SQL thread was reads from a hot log (relay.NNNNN), then is stopped, then is restarted from a previous cold log (relay.MMMMM), and then it reaches the hot log relay.NNNNN again, in which case, the read coordinates are not set to zero, but to the old values. Additionally, some comments to the source code were added.

| | | | | | | | * | | | WL#5151: Conversion between different types when replicatingMats Kindahl2009-12-141-6/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Row-based replication requires the types of columns on the master and slave to be approximately the same (some safe conversions between strings are allowed), but does not allow safe conversions between fields of similar types such as TINYINT and INT. This patch implement type conversions between similar fields on the master and slave. The conversions are controlled using a new variable SLAVE_TYPE_CONVERSIONS of type SET('ALL_LOSSY','ALL_NON_LOSSY'). Non-lossy conversions are any conversions that do not run the risk of losing any information, while lossy conversions can potentially truncate the value. The column definitions are checked to decide if the conversion is acceptable. If neither conversion is enabled, it is required that the definitions of the columns are identical on master and slave. Conversion is done by creating an internal conversion table, unpacking the master data into it, and then copy the data to the real table on the slave.

After review fixes in progress. ------------------------------------------------------------ This is the first patch in series. It transforms the metadata locking subsystem to use a dedicated module (mdl.h,cc). No significant changes in the locking protocol. The import passes the test suite with the exception of deprecated/removed 6.0 features, and MERGE tables. The latter are subject to a fix by WL#4144. Unfortunately, the original changeset comments got lost in a merge, thus this import has its own (largely insufficient) comments. This patch fixes Bug#25144 "replication / binlog with view breaks". Warning: this patch introduces an incompatible change: Under LOCK TABLES, it's no longer possible to FLUSH a table that was not locked for WRITE. Under LOCK TABLES, it's no longer possible to DROP a table or VIEW that was not locked for WRITE. ****** Backport of: ------------------------------------------------------------ revno: 2630.4.2 committer: Dmitry Lenev <dlenev@mysql.com> branch nick: mysql-6.0-3726-w timestamp: Sat 2008-05-24 14:03:45 +0400 message: WL#3726 "DDL locking for all metadata objects". Fix for assert failures in kill.test which occured when one tried to kill ALTER TABLE statement on merge table while it was waiting in wait_while_table_is_used() for other connections to close this table. These assert failures stemmed from the fact that cleanup code in this case assumed that temporary table representing new version of table was open with adding to THD::temporary_tables list while code which were opening this temporary table wasn't always fulfilling this. This patch changes code that opens new version of table to always do this linking in. It also streamlines cleanup process for cases when error occurs while we have new version of table open. ****** WL#3726 "DDL locking for all metadata objects" Add libmysqld/mdl.cc to .bzrignore. ****** Backport of: ------------------------------------------------------------ revno: 2630.4.6 committer: Dmitry Lenev <dlenev@mysql.com> branch nick: mysql-6.0-3726-w timestamp: Sun 2008-05-25 00:33:22 +0400 message: WL#3726 "DDL locking for all metadata objects". Addition to the fix of assert failures in kill.test caused by changes for this worklog. Make sure we close the new table only once.

| | | | | |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | NOTE: Backporting the patch to next-mr. The fix proposed in BUG#35542 and BUG#31665 introduces a performance issue when fsyncing the master.info, relay.info and relay-log.bin* after #th events. Although such solution has been proposed to reduce the probability of corrupted files due to a slave-crash, the performance penalty introduced by it has made the approach impractical for highly intensive workloads. In a nutshell, the option --syn-relay-log proposed in BUG#35542 and BUG#31665 simultaneously fsyncs master.info, relay-log.info and relay-log.bin* and this is the main source of performance issues. This patch introduces new options that give more control to the user on what should be fsynced and how often: 1) (--sync-master-info, integer) which syncs the master.info after #th event; 2) (--sync-relay-log, integer) which syncs the relay-log.bin* after #th events. 3) (--sync-relay-log-info, integer) which syncs the relay.info after #th transactions. To provide both performance and increased reliability, we recommend the following setup: 1) --sync-master-info = 0 eventually the operating system will fsync it; 2) --sync-relay-log = 0 eventually the operating system will fsync it; 3) --sync-relay-log-info = 1 fsyncs it after every transaction; Notice, that the previous setup does not reduce the probability of corrupted master.info and relay-log.bin*. To overcome the issue, this patch also introduces a recovery mechanism that right after restart throws away relay-log.bin* retrieved from a master and updates the master.info based on the relay.info: 4) (--relay-log-recovery, boolean) which enables a recovery mechanism that throws away relay-log.bin* after a crash. However, it can only recover the incorrect binlog file and position in master.info, if other informations (host, port password, etc) are corrupted or incorrect, then this recovery mechanism will fail to work.
| | | | | * BUG#38174 secure-file-priv breaks LOAD DATA INFILE replication in statement modeAlfranio Correia2009-02-211-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If secure-file-priv was set on slave, it became unable to execute LOAD DATA INFILE statements sent from master using mixed or statement-based replication. This patch fixes the issue by ignoring this security restriction and checking if the files are created and read by the slave in the --slave-load-tmpdir while executing the SQL Thread.

This patch sets the OPTION_BEGIN flag for BEGIN, COMMIT, ROLLBACK, and XID events. It also adds checks if inside a group before decreasing the slave skip counter to zero. Begin_query_log_event was not marked that it could not end a group, which is now corrected.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds the ability to store extra field metadata in the table map event. This data can include pack_length() or field_lenght() for fields such as CHAR or VARCHAR enabling developers to add code that can check for compatibilty between master and slave columns. More importantly, the extra field metadata can be used to store data from the master correctly should a VARCHAR field on the master be <= 255 bytes while the same field on the slave is > 255 bytes. The patch also includes the needed changes to unpack to ensure that data which is smaller on the master can be unpacked correctly on the slave. WL#3915 : (NDB) master's cols > slave Slave starts accepting and handling rows of master's tables which have more columns. The most important part of implementation is how to caclulate the amount of bytes to skip for unknown by slave column.
