I got the new installhtml from CPAN
(TOMC/scripts/pod2html-v2.0beta.shar.gz)
I had problems getting the system call to splitpod at line 376 to work.
1. splitroot was not being found
2. splitroot was not finding its library
3. I changed htmlroot to podroot at line 175 to match the documentation.

Subject: Carp with multiple arguments (and lack of tests)
carp/croak/confess are documented as similar to warn/die, but whereas
warn/die print multiple arguments, carp/croak/confess print only the
first. Assuming that this is a bug rather than a feature, the following
patch corrects it. (And if it _is_ a feature, the pod needs updating
instead, to explain it away.)
Trying to be polite, I thought I'd update the Carp tests to cover this
case. But I couldn't find any Carp tests ... I'll have a go
at rectifying this lacuna. But not till tomorrow.

Finally defines semantics of "my" in control expressions,
like the condition of "if" and "while". In all cases, scope
of a "my" var extends to the end of the entire control
structure. Also adds new construct "for my", which

I can't find the password for our ftp server, so I had to drop it into
ftp://ftp.sems.com/pub/incoming/perl5.002b3.tar.gz, which is a drop
directory you can't ls.
The current plan is that Andy is gonna whack on this a little more, and
then release a gamma in a few days when he's happy with it. So don't get
carried away. This is now *late* beta.
In other words, have less than the appropriate amount of fun. :-)

To apply, change to your perl directory, run the commands above, then
apply with
patch -p1 -N < thispatch.

Alas neither my "Irwin AccuTrack" nor my DC 600A quarter-inch cartridge
backup tapes from that era seem to be readable anymore. I guess 13 years
exceeds the shelf life for that backup technology :-(.
