* sysctl: also process sysctl requests via the "sysctl.extra" credentialLennart Poettering2022-07-141-0/+1

* meson: use jinja2 for unit templatesZbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek2021-05-191-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | We don't need two (and half) templating systems anymore, yay! I'm keeping the changes minimal, to make the diff manageable. Some enhancements due to a better templating system might be possible in the future. For handling of '## ' — see the next commit.

* sysctl: run sysctl service if /proc/sys/net is writable (#4425)Lennart Poettering2016-10-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This simply changes this line: ConditionPathIsReadWrite=/proc/sys/ to this: ConditionPathIsReadWrite=/proc/sys/net/ The background for this is that the latter is namespaced through network namespacing usually and hence frequently set as writable in containers, even though the former is kept read-only. If /proc/sys is read-only but /proc/sys/net is writable we should run the sysctl service, as useful settings may be made in this case. Fixes: #4370
* units: specify timeouts for more oneshot servicesZbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek2015-04-281-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | Even trivial service occasionally get stuck, for example when there's a problem with the journal. There's nothing more annoying that looking at the cylon eye for a job with an infinite timeout. Use standard 90s for jobs that do some work, and 30s for those which should be almost instantenous.

* units/systemd-sysctl.service.in: run after load-modulesCristian Rodríguez2014-06-191-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Modules might or will register new sysctl options. [zj: This mechanism of adding modules just to reliably set sysctl attributes is not ideal. Nevertheless, sysctl for dynamically created attributes is simply broken, and this is the easiest workaround.] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1022977 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=725412
* units: don't conditionalize sysctl serviceLennart Poettering2014-06-131-5/+0
| | | | | | We install two sysctl snippets ourselves, hence the condition will always trigger, so no point in tryng to optimize things with this, it just will make things slower, if anything.

* Revert "units: ignore systemd-sysctl on shutdown"Lennart Poettering2013-03-231-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This reverts commit faeffa73a81ab5b59acfadeb571431fb0e42af70. There isn't really much point in dropping the Conflicts= since shutting down this service is basically free as it doesn't have anything running. Also, the patch was incomplete, because shutdown.target was still listed in Before=.
* units: ignore systemd-sysctl on shutdownUmut Tezduyar2013-03-151-1/+0
| | | | | No need to try to stop systemd-sysctl on shutdown as this service doesn't have ExecStop= anyways.
* man: add documentation for the binfmt, modules-load, sysctl servicesLennart Poettering2012-05-311-1/+1

* units: introduce new Documentation= field and make use of it everywhereLennart Poettering2012-05-211-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This should help making the boot process a bit easier to explore and understand for the administrator. The simple idea is that "systemctl status" now shows a link to documentation alongside the other status and decriptionary information of a service. This patch adds the necessary fields to all our shipped units if we have proper documentation for them.

* relicense to LGPLv2.1 (with exceptions)Lennart Poettering2012-04-121-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | We finally got the OK from all contributors with non-trivial commits to relicense systemd from GPL2+ to LGPL2.1+. Some udev bits continue to be GPL2+ for now, but we are looking into relicensing them too, to allow free copy/paste of all code within systemd. The bits that used to be MIT continue to be MIT. The big benefit of the relicensing is that closed source code may now link against libsystemd-login.so and friends.
