This commit is the result of running the gdb/copyright.py script,
which automated the update of the copyright year range for all
source files managed by the GDB project to be updated to include
year 2023.

This teaches gdb_test to forward the -prompt and -lbl options to
gdb_test_multiple.
The option parsing is done with parse_args.
As a cleanup, instead of using llength and lindex to get at the
positional arguments, use lassign, and check whether the corresponding
variable is empty.
Convert gdb.base/ui-redirect.exp and gdb.xml/tdesc-reload.exp to use
gdb_test -prompt/-lbl instead of gdb_test_multiple as examples.

When running the testsuite, I have:
Running .../gdb/testsuite/gdb.base/ui-redirect.exp ...
DUPLICATE: gdb.base/ui-redirect.exp: redirect while already logging: set logging redirect off
Fix by moving the first 'set logging redirect off' to the end of the
previous [with_test_prefix] test block. The statement's purpose is to
clean the on flag set in this previous block, so moving it there makes
sense and does not change the sequence of commands in the test file.
Tested on x86_64-linux.

This commit brings all the changes made by running gdb/copyright.py
as per GDB's Start of New Year Procedure.
For the avoidance of doubt, all changes in this commits were
performed by the script.

Before commit 3b6acaee895 "Update more calls to add_prefix_cmd" we had the

Before the commit, whether logging is enabled or not can be deduced from the
output of the command. After the commit, the message is unified and it's no
longer clear whether logging is enabled or not.
Fix this by:
- adding a new command "show logging enabled"
- adding a corresponding new command "set logging enabled on/off"
- making the commands "set logging on/off" deprecated aliases of the
"set logging enabled on/off" command.
Update the docs and testsuite to use "set logging enabled". Mention the new
and deprecated commands in NEWS.

... make runto_main not pass no-message to runto. This means that if we
fail to run to main, for some reason, we'll emit a FAIL. This is the
behavior we want the majority of (if not all) the time.
Without this, we rely on tests logging a failure if runto_main fails,
otherwise. They do so in a very inconsisteny mannet, sometimes using
"fail", "unsupported" or "untested". The messages also vary widly.
This patch removes all these messages as well.
Also, remove a few "fail" where we call runto (and not runto_main). by
default (without an explicit no-message argument), runto prints a
failure already. In two places, gdb.multi/multi-re-run.exp and
gdb.python/py-pp-registration.exp, remove "message" passed to runto.
This removes a few PASSes that we don't care about (but FAILs will still
be printed if we fail to run to where we want to). This aligns their
behavior with the rest of the testsuite.

This patch addresses PR gdb/27133. Before it, the following succession
of commands would cause gdb to crash:
set logging redirect on
set logging debugredirect on
set logging on
The problem eventually comes down to a use after free. The function
cli_interp_base::set_logging is called with a unique_ptr argument that
holds a pointer to the redirection file. In the problematic use case,
no-one ever took ownership of that pointer (as far as unique_ptr is
concerned), so the call to its dtor at the end of the function causes
the file object to be deleted. Any later use of the pointer to the
redirection file is therefore an error.
This patch ensures that the unique_ptr is released when required (so it
does not assume ownership anymore). The internal logic of
cli_interp_base::set_logging takes care of freeing the ui_file when it
is not necessary anymore using the saved_output.file_to_delete field.

I spent a lot of time reading infrun debug logs recently, and I think
they could be made much more readable by being indented, to clearly see
what operation is done as part of what other operation. In the current
format, there are no visual cues to tell where things start and end,
it's just a big flat list. It's also difficult to understand what
caused a given operation (e.g. a call to resume_1) to be done.
To help with this, I propose to add the new scoped_debug_start_end
structure, along with a bunch of macros to make it convenient to use.
The idea of scoped_debug_start_end is simply to print a start and end
message at construction and destruction. It also increments/decrements
a depth counter in order to make debug statements printed during this
range use some indentation. Some care is taken to handle the fact that
debug can be turned on or off in the middle of such a range. For
example, a "set debug foo 1" command in a breakpoint command, or a
superior GDB manually changing the debug_foo variable.
Two macros are added in gdbsupport/common-debug.h, which are helpers to
define module-specific macros:
- scoped_debug_start_end: takes a message that is printed both at
construction / destruction, with "start: " and "end: " prefixes.
- scoped_debug_enter_exit: prints hard-coded "enter" and "exit"
messages, to denote the entry and exit of a function.
I added some examples in the infrun module to give an idea of how it can
be used and what the result looks like. The macros are in capital
letters (INFRUN_SCOPED_DEBUG_START_END and
INFRUN_SCOPED_DEBUG_ENTER_EXIT) to mimic the existing SCOPE_EXIT, but
that can be changed if you prefer something else.

We can easily see where the call to `proceed` starts and end. We can
also see why there are a bunch of resume_1 calls, it's because we are
resuming threads, emulating all-stop on top of a non-stop target.
We also see that debug statements nest well with other modules that have
been migrated to use the "new" debug statement helpers (because they all
use debug_prefixed_vprintf in the end. I think this is desirable, for
example we could see the debug statements about reading the DWARF info
of a library nested under the debug statements about loading that
library.
Of course, modules that haven't been migrated to use the "new" helpers
will still print without indentations. This will be one good reason to
migrate them.
I think the runtime cost (when debug statements are disabled) of this is
reasonable, given the improvement in readability. There is the cost of
the conditionals (like standard debug statements), one more condition
(if (m_must_decrement_print_depth)) and the cost of constructing a stack
object, which means copying a fews pointers.
Adding the print in fetch_inferior_event breaks some tests that use "set
debug infrun", because it prints a debug statement after the prompt. I
adapted these tests to cope with it, by using the "-prompt" switch of
gdb_test_multiple to as if this debug statement is part of the expected
prompt. It's unfortunate that we have to do this, but I think the debug
print is useful, and I don't want a few tests to get in the way of
adding good debug output.

In some runtimes, there may be a "main" function in some class or
namespace. The breakpoint created by runto_main may therefore have
unexpected locations on some other functions than the actual main.
These breakpoint locations can unexpectedly get hit during tests and
lead to failures.
I saw this while playing with AMD's ROCm toolchain -- I wrote a board
file to run the testsuite against device kernels. There, the runtime
calls a "main" function before the device kernel code is reached:

To avoid that, pass "qualified" to runto, in runto_main, so that
gdb_breakpoint ends up creating a breakpoint with -qualified. This
avoids creating breakpoints locations for other unrelated "main"
functions.
Note: I first tried making runto itself use "-qualified", but that
caused regressions in the gdb.ada/ tests, which use runto without
specifying the whole fully-qualified function name (i.e., without the
package). So I end up restricting the -qualified to
runto_main/mi_runto_main.
The gdb.base/ui-redirect.exp change is necessary because that testcase
is looking at what "save breakpoint" generates.

Commit 1eb8556f5a8b ("gdb: add infrun_debug_printf macro") changed the
debug output format for `set debug infrun 1`. It broke test
gdb.base/ui-redirect.exp, which I missed:
FAIL: gdb.base/ui-redirect.exp: debugging: continue
Fix it by adjusting the pattern in the test to the new reality.

The problem reported in PR mi/25055 is that the output of the backtrace
command, when executed as breakpoint command does not show when executing
using the MI interpreter:

Interestingly, the function print_frame is called twice during -exec-run:
- once during tui_on_normal_stop where the ui_out is temporarily set to
tui->interp_ui_out (), resulting in the part after the comma in
"Breakpoint 1, main () at test.c:19"
- once during execute_control_command, where the ui_out is the default for the
current interpreter: mi_ui_out, which ignores calls to output text.
The commit 3a87ae656c2 "Use console uiout when executing breakpoint commands"
fixes the problem by temporarily switching to the ui_out of INTERP_CONSOLE in
execute_control_command.
This however caused a regression in redirection (escaping '#' using '\' for
git commit message convenience):

The problem is that the '#0 main () at test.c:19' ends up in the gdb output
output rather than in gdb.txt. This is due to the fact that the redirect is
setup for the current ui_out (which is tui->interp_ui_out ()), while the
backtrace output is printed to the INTERP_CONSOLE ui_out.
Fix this by limiting switching to INTERP_CONSOLE ui_out to when INTERP_MI is
active.

In gdb.base/ui-redirect.exp, the "save breakpoint" command is used to write
the current breakpoints to a file, but the actual output is not verified.
Consequently, the test has regressed in that the "print 1" command associated
with a breakpoint on main is removed by a subsequent runto_main, which first
deletes all breakpoints:

Fix up all failures encountered when running the testsuite with
GDB_DEBUG="infrun".
Some tests rely on enabling debugging for various components. With
debugging on, this will be lost to the debug file.
Disable separate tty for mi tests when debugging. This currently
does not work.
disasm.c should send errors to the stderr instead of the logfile.
Note that enabling debug for other components might still cause
additional errors above what has been fixed here.

Currently, when logging is enabled, output will be sent to both a
logfile and standard terminal output. The redirect option sends output
only to the logfile. This includes all debug output.
Add the option to redirect debug output seperately to normal
output, using the cli command:
set logging debugredirect on
By setting this and enabling logging, all output and debug will
be sent to the logfile. The user will still see all output but
no debug output.
This causes a change in behaviour for anyone currently using
logging redirect, as now only output will be redirected. Users
will have to issue the additional command above to also redirect
debug.
Expand ui-redirect.exp cover the changes.

Instead of using two bools to decide if the files should close when tee_file
is closed, make file one stay open and file two close. This simplifies the
use cases for it.
Inline the make_logging_output into the calling functions (the logic here
looks ugly in order to simplify a later change).
Expand ui-redirect.exp to cover the changes, similar to mi-logging.exp.

This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py
script.
Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid
copyright header
(gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc).
As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit
leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header
was sent to gcc-patches first.

original_stream fields by the new streams field. Remove the
original_stream != NULL conditional, assert error on NULL instead.
(out_field_fmt, field_separator): New variable stream, initialize it, use it.
(cli_out_data_ctor): Assert non-NULL stream. Replace the stream and
original_stream fields by the new streams field.
(cli_out_set_stream): Replace the stream field by the new streams
field.
* cli-out.h: Include vec.h.
(ui_filep): New typedef, call DEF_VEC_P for it.
(struct cli_ui_out_data): Replace the stream and original_stream
