* dist-docs: Add support for rSTStephen Finucane2016-10-181-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | This will eventually go away once Sphinx starts doing all this work for us. For now, however, let's make sure we don't break the OVS website. This introduces a new dependency for the dist-docs script - 'rst2html'. This tool is packaged on Ubuntu, Fedora (via 'python-docutils'), etc. and can be installed from pip using the 'docsutils' package. * Add optional C extension wrapper for Python JSON parsingTerry Wilson2016-06-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The pure Python in-tree JSON parser is *much* slower than the in-tree C JSON parser. A local test parsing a 100Mb JSON file showed the Python version taking 270 seconds. With the C wrapper, it took under 4 seconds. The C extension will be used automatically if it can be built. If the extension fails to build, a warning is displayed and the build is restarted without the extension. The Serializer class is replaced with Python's built-in JSON library since the ability to process chunked data is not needed in that case. The extension should work with both Python 2.7 and Python 3.3+. Signed-off-by: Terry Wilson <twilson@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ben Pfaff <blp@ovn.org>
* cksum: Refine schema cksum validationRodriguez Betancourt, Esteban2016-04-221-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Calculates the cksum removing the cksum line using a more strict regex than the used previously. It fixes a problem when calculating the cksum of a schema that has fields with the substring cksum (e.g.: a checksum column), lines that the previous cksum calculation incorrectly removes before running cksum. Also, the tool calculate-schema-cksum is introduced. This tool calculates the cksum of a schema file. It could be used in other programs, instead of calculating the cksum in an eventually different way than the expected by cksum-schema-check and other tools. * rhel: provide our own SELinux custom policy packageAnsis Atteka2016-02-251-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CentOS, RHEL and Fedora distributions ship with their own Open vSwitch SELinux policy that is too strict and prevents Open vSwitch to work normally out of the box. As a solution, this patch introduces a new package which will "loosen" up "openvswitch_t" SELinux domain so that Open vSwitch could operate normally. Intended use-cases of this package are: 1. to allow users to install newer Open vSwitch on already released Fedora, RHEL and CentOS distributions where the default Open vSwitch SELinux policy that shipped with the corresponding Linux distribution is not up to date and did not anticipate that a newer Open vSwitch version might need to invoke new system calls or need to access certain system resources that it did not before; And 2. to provide alternative means through which Open vSwitch developers can proactively fix SELinux related policy issues without waiting for corresponding Linux distribution maintainers to update their central Open vSwitch SELinux policy. This patch was tested on Fedora 23 and CentOS 7. I verified that now on Fedora 23 Open vSwitch can create a NetLink socket; and that I did not see following error messages: vlog|INFO|opened log file /var/log/openvswitch/ovs-vswitchd.log ovs_numa|INFO|Discovered 2 CPU cores on NUMA node 0 ovs_numa|INFO|Discovered 1 NUMA nodes and 2 CPU cores reconnect|INFO|unix:/var/run/openvswitch/db.sock: connecting... reconnect|INFO|unix:/var/run/openvswitch/db.sock: connected netlink_socket|ERR|fcntl: Permission denied dpif_netlink|ERR|Generic Netlink family 'ovs_datapath' does not exist. The Open vSwitch kernel module is p robably not loaded. dpif|WARN|failed to enumerate system datapaths: Permission denied dpif|WARN|failed to create datapath ovs-system: Permission denied I did not test all Open vSwitch features so there still could be some OVS configuration that would get "Permission denied" errors. Since, Open vSwitch daemons on Ubuntu 15.10 by default run under "unconfined" SELinux domain, then there is no need to create a similar debian package for Ubuntu, because it works on default Ubuntu installation. | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch enables parallel build from the command line. * dist-docs: Make GNU make aware of sub-make.Ben Pfaff2016-02-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When GNU make sees that a command to be executed contains the string $(MAKE), it makes the jobserver that limits parallelism available to the command. Otherwise, any sub-make that executes sees that parallelism is enabled but does not have access to the jobserver, so it prints a warning and turns off parallel job execution. This also makes the dist-docs process run the same "make" that is executed at the top level, in case that's different from the default "make" found in $PATH. * flake8: Fix use of --select and --ignore.Russell Bryant2016-02-021-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The flake8 command evolved over a series of patches and now includes the use of both --select and --ignore. Unfortunately, this wasn't doing what I thought. The use of --select completely overrides what --ignore does, meaning that we were only currently enforcing a small number of warnings specified in --select. This patch runs flake8 twice, once with --select and once with --ignore to actually enforce the full desired set of warnings. No additional violations had been introduced, but I noticed this while working on some other patches. Signed-off-by: Russell Bryant <russell@ovn.org> Acked-by: Ben Pfaff <blp@ovn.org>

* Add MAINTAINERS file.Russell Bryant2016-01-281-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Previously, the list of committers was not written down publicly. There was no reason for this other than it not being trivial to expose the commiter group membership via github. This MAINTAINERS file lists the members of the OVS committers group. There's some outdated email addresses in here, but I just copied what was currently in AUTHORS. This can be fixed when AUTHORS gets fixed, too.
